Antoinette Slingsby was in born in Cape Town, attending Michaelis and Rhodes University. She then moved abroad, living in Israel and Britain for five years respectively. She returned to Cape Town in 1992 where she has remained for the last seventeen years.

She established her own paint effect company, which she ran for ten years. Antoinette started working from home when she had two children doing furniture and gilding as well as fine art.

Subsequently she has started doing oil paintings and mixed media on canvasses.
